ALL ABOUT

Literary and Publishing Law

Literary & Publishing

Our literary clients range from well-established national authors to beginning writers in a variety of publishing genres. We represent several regional publishing houses and have extensive experience in agent-author agreements, publishing agreements, ancillary rights disposition, and magazine and newspaper syndication matters.

Subsidiary and Copyright Rights

We work with both rights holders and those seeking to negotiate rights from a copyright owner on a wide range of subsidiary rights issues. Cartoons, web series, toys, songs, prequels and sequels - these are all rights that have to be negotiated with and obtained from a copyright owner. Similarly, authors or any individual or entity seeking to license or use another person’s copyrighted work cannot do so without the rights holder’s permission. We work with our clients to identify rights holders and obtain the proper documentation to protect our clients’ interests in any endeavor.
