Ashley Simon Brooks joined Schroder Brooks Law Firm after a sixteen-year career as in-house counsel, first at a promotions and marketing agency, and then as associate general counsel for a billion dollar retail and wholesale company.
Her practice focuses on advertising, marketing and promotions law including agency/advertiser agreements, sweepstakes and contests, federal and state regulations relating to all forms of advertising, marketing, and promotions. She also works with many clients on issues surrounding privacy and data collection and provides general business law counsel including the drafting of operating agreements and other corporate documents and contracts.
She works with writers, production companies, photographers, filmmakers, cartoonists, entrepreneurs and creative agencies. She has spoken at the American Marketing Association, Richmond Chapter, the VCU Brand Center and conducted a series on advertising law with the Richmond Ad Club.
She publishes a monthly newsletter called The Ad Matter, where she provides updates on relevant advertising law cases and regulations, and of course, brands behaving badly. Ashley is an active member and avid fan of Richmond’s creative community and serves on several non-profit boards.
